About Me

I am a red seal & CCC (Canadian Chef de Cuisine) chef. Classically trained under Swiss & German masters in the hotel industry I have over 15 years’ experience that includes high end bistros, cruise ships, private catering and personal chef services. As an apprentice I had the unbelievable experience of assisting Team Canada prepare for the Culinary Olympics, an experience that schooled me in hard work, dedication, precision and created a respect for my craft I am not sure I would have achieved otherwise.

My second career, an Agrologist (soil, vegetation & water specialist), allowed me the opportunity to start Canada's first wetland sod nursery for the purpose of rehabilitating our wetlands here in Alberta. I also had the amazing opportunity to create biosoil, a completely organic parallel to natural soil free of chemicals, fertilizers & pesticides for vegetable gardens. Growing the most nutrient dense food possible in the most natural of ways is a growing trend in niche market agriculture.

My professional and personal choices took a toll on my health and well-being and I struggled with unhealthy habits for many years. Having many lows over the years my lowest when I was at my heaviest and literally needed to take the bull by the horns. I didn't have one foot in the grave, I was up to my knees and had little quality of life.

With a family history of diabetes, heart disease, and scleroderma I needed to get real. I was hyperglycemic, had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, psoriasis, eczema, alopecia, gout and various issues connected to food intolerances.

By applying my vast knowledge of food and educating myself on the things I didn't know or understand I lost 100 pounds. Today, diabetes is no longer a concern. High blood pressure is a thing of the past, my cholesterol is ideal, and no longer suffer from eczema or psoriasis. My alopecia is not only completely gone but have a full head of beautiful hair and haven't experienced gout pain for many many years. The numerous issues connected to food intolerances no longer hinder my life. That means no headaches, no bloating, no acid reflux... The list is long.

Using food as medicine and focusing on nourishing my body daily I am physically at my healthiest. A dedicated yoga practice and taking the time to connect to myself and nature in our beautiful back country keeps my soul nourished and balanced.

Culinary Skills & Nutrition is a culmination of my life’s experiences and my life’s passion. It is what I live and breathe every day. It is what I passionately want everyone else to experience for themselves.
